Point and shoot preset modes

Digital SLR cameras are equipped with various preset modes that allow the user to take point and shoot shots using the preset settings for different types of shots.

Portrait mode will obviously used for portraits and will give you shallow depth of field to make the main subject stand out and it also helps making skin tones more natural looking.

Using Preset Modes

Landscape mode produces a greater saturation of blues and greens resulting in more vivid colours of landscapes. It also automatically focuses on the nearest subject allowing objects or people to become the main focus of a shot.

Child mode boosts colour's in children's clothing and also creates more natural skin tones.

Sports mode uses fast shutter speeds to freeze motion and focuses continually on moving objects

Close up mode is used for close up shots of subjects such as flowers and insects. The camera automatically focuses using the central focus area.

Night Portrait mode will allow you to take portrait shots in low light situations using the flash but also using a slow shutter speed to capture background details.

Auto (flash off) mode turns the flash off whilst using an automatic mode setting.
